Nigerians React As NSITF Claims Termites Ate Payment Vouchers

N17.16bn Probe: Nigerians React As NSITF Claims Termites Ate Payment Vouchers

Nigerians have reacted to the claim by the management of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) that termites ate payment vouchers for the spending of N17.16 billion in 2013.

Naija News earlier reported that the NSITF management had told the Senate Committee on Public Accounts that the documents needed to justify the spending of the funds had been beaten by rains and possibly being eaten up by termites.

Speaking during the hearing last Friday, Managing Director of NSITF, Michael Akabogu, said no documents of such were in their possession upon his assumption of office.

He said: “The container they said documents were kept by past management has not only been beaten by rains over the years but even possibly being eaten up by termites.

“As directed by this committee, I told the past management officers about the need for them to help us out in answering this query with necessary documents which have not been made available for us.”

However, Nigerians have taken to the micro-blogging platform, Twitter to express various reactions to the development.

See some of the reactions below.
