Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has reacted to the presence of clerics at the unveiling of Kashim Shettima as the vice-presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Naija News reported that some persons who dressed as Bishops on Wednesday attended the unveiling at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja to show support for the APC Muslim-Muslim ticket.

However, various reactions from individuals and Christian groups have trailed the photographs and video clips showing the ‘clerics’ at the event.

In an interview on Channels Television on Wednesday, Sule said the presence of the ‘Bishops’ at the unveiling of the former Borno Governor shows the acceptance of the Muslim-Muslim ticket.

The governor said the ‘clerics’ attended the event to show their support for Shettima, because of what he has done for them when he was a governor.

He said: “What I found even amazing today, I saw a group of reverend fathers, pastors and the rest of that — over 30 of them — who came forward at the event to show their support for this gentleman, because of what he has done for them when he was the governor and banker.

“That is why I said you have some who will support and some who will not support, and it is not according to religious lines, because if you have all these men of God — leaders in their churches — who have come forward to say that they are 100 percent in support of this, then you know it has gone beyond religious lines.

Meanwhile, the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, has told President Muhammadu Buhari that his running mate is detribalized.

He stated this on Wednesday when he accompanied Shettima on a courtesy visit to Buhari at the Presidential Villa.

In a statement signed by Garba Shehu, Spokesman to the President, Tinubu said Shettima will not be for the “troika of Hausa, Fulani, and Kanuri.”

The APC presidential candidate noted that his running mate would be a vice president for all Nigerians, not minding their ethnicity, religion, or geographical place of origin.
