My Governorship Aspiration Is Not A Joke

The governorship candidate for the Labour Party (LP) in Kaduna State, Jonathan Asake, has come out to clear the air that his governorship aspiration is not a joke as rumoured by some quarters in the state.

According to him, he wasn’t in the race to play games but to bring the people of the state out of their present predicaments.

Naija News gathered that Asake said it has become necessary for him to clear the air because of the speculations and rumours making the rounds that he was in the race to ruin the chances of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to enable the All Progressives Congress (APC) win in the state.

Asake, who made his stand on Tuesday in Kaduna in the midst of the political committee panel of the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), maintained that he wasn’t working with the APC as speculated.

He submitted that “My aspiration to be a governor is not a joke, I am a serious contender for Sir Kashim Ibrahim House and remained highly optimistic to win the election next year.”

Asake advanced that regardless of all the rumours, he is not undeterred by what he described as mischief, noting that he is focused on winning and that by God’s grace, he will become the next Governor of Kaduna State at the polls next year.

The Kaduna Labour Party governorship candidate, who described the rumour of him working for the APC as untrue and strange, accused the PDP of spreading such rumours.

He further explained that the PDP in the state has suddenly become jittery because the Labour Party has zoned the southern senatorial district for the office of the governor, and that is why they are spreading disinformation about his candidacy.

He queried “If the PDP truly believed that the Southern Senatorial zone is theirs why have they not zoned the party’s governorship ticket to the zone since 1999?”
