Mom celebrates Sam Adekugbe’s World Cup debut – Latest Sports News In Nigeria



























Samuel Adekugbe’s mother couldn’t contain her joy, while watching the defender in action against Belgium on Wednesday.

Watching from a TV set at home, Momma Adekugbe was proud of her son Sam, who was a substitute for Canada during their match against Belgium.

“My son Sam Adekugbe is in the World Cup….oh my God. Hallelujah,” the proud mother tweeted while exclaiming her joy in a video, pointing to him as he took the pitch.

Adekugbe, a Nigerian descent, came on for Richie Laryea in the 74th minute, unfortunately, Canada fell 1-0 to the Belgians.

Adekugbe, was a regular for Canada throughout the CONCACAF qualifying campaign, and he got his first goal for Canada in a 2-0 home win against USA last January.

Adekugbe currently plays for Turkish Süper Lig club Hatayspor, where he has made 46 appearances since joining the club in 2021.

Adekugbe and Canada next take to Croatia on Sunday morning.
