Medicine Academy inducts LASUTH CMD, others

The Chief Medical Director of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Professor Adetokunbo Fabamwo has been inducted into the Nigerian Academy of Medicine alongside other eminent medical experts and scholars.

The induction event was held at the NAF Conference Centre Abuja, according to a press statement issued by LASUTH and made available to PUNCH HealthWise.

The Nigerian Academy of Medicine is an independent body focused on promoting excellence and expertise in medical sciences and healthcare. 

The membership of the Academy of Medicine is open to academics and professionals in the Nigerian medical industry who have distinguished themselves.

Professor Fabamwo was part of the few eminent scholars approved for the 2022 induction exercise, the 2nd in the history of the Academy.

Other eminent scholars from LASUTH who were also inducted include- Prof Demola Olaitan, Maxillofacial Surgeon and Past President of the National Postgraduate Medical College; Prof Idowu Fadeyibi, Burns and Plastic Surgeon; Prof Juwon Adeneye, Clinical Pharmacologist and Prof Muyiwa Odusanya, Community Health Physician and Past Provost LASUCOM.

Prof. Fabamwo is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Lagos State University College of Medicine, Ikeja. He holds an MBChB degree from the University of Ife and Fellowships from the National Postgraduate Medical College, West African College of Surgeons and the International College of Surgeons. 

He was the Medical Director of Ayinke House for many years and the pioneer Director of Clinical Services and Training at the evolution of LASUTH in 2001.

He has over 80 scientific publications in mainly international peer-reviewed journals.
