An Ondo State High Court has sentenced one Daniyan Ojo to death for murdering his wife Dorcas Daniyan.
The 50-year-old welder set his wife ablaze while she was sleeping and locked the door, Naija News understands.
He was said to have committed the crime on September 14, 2019, at lrese Road in Shagari Village, Akure, the state capital.
After committing the offence which led to the death of his wife, the assailant was apprehended by the police and later arraigned in court.
The case was argued in court by the prosecution and defence counsel before the judge gave a final verdict.
While delivering the judgement, Justice Adegboyega Adebusoye, held that the prosecution had proved the case against Ojo beyond reasonable doubt and sentenced him to death by hanging.
Meanwhile, a tragic road accident in Kano State reportedly claimed the lives of two women who were returning from the market to shop for the 2022 Sallah celebration.
Reports said that the incident happened along the Kano Government House on Wednesday evening.
The victims who were simply identified as Khadija and Rasheeda are said to have finished their shopping and were returning home when the accident happened.
