LP will perform well in Cross River guber election – Deputy Gov candidate, Ekpezu

The Deputy governorship candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in Cross River State, Jonah Ekpezu has expressed optimism that his party will sweep the polls at the ongoing governorship election in the state.

In an interview, he said he had thought that going by the complaints which surrounded the outcome of the presidential election on February 25, there would be voter apathy but surprisingly people have come out to vote for the party.

Ekpezu said at his 34 Ambo polling unit, that he is very certain of winning going by the massive turnout.

He disclaimed the rumours that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi had encouraged people to vote for another party in the state.

“Our principal could not have promoted another at the detriment of his LP in the state. He did not really endorse the other party. He merely used Cross River as a case study.

“Peter Obi has been rooting for the electorate to vote for his party, LP, from top to bottom. As you know, during election time, there are usually campaigns and propaganda aimed at playing with the psychology of the voters.

“But today, most voters know the truth. They are looking for credible candidates. And we are credible candidates in LP.”

Ekpezu said they will remain law abiding but that the party may question the outcome if they have credible reasons to do so when the results are eventually released.
