Legendary Jim Beglin raves about Taiwo Awoniyi first Nottingham Forest goal against West ham United

Read Jim Beglin’s poetic commentary as he described Taiwo Awoniyi’s first goal for Nottingham Forest

This was Awoniyi’s first goal for his new side after moving to Nottingham Forest from Bundesliga’s Union Berlin in a club-record deal for the Premier League new boys.

In the aftermath of the match, Jim Beglin commended the Super Eagles star for taking advantage of his good fortune to bag his first goal.

While on commentary duty as reported by Nottinghamforestnews, the Irish commentator noted that while Awoniyi was lucky to be in the right place at the right time, he had worked hard for it.

Beglin said: “There’s an element of good fortune about this. It seems to just run off of Johnson and it runs into the path of Awoniyi.

“But, he won’t care and I think for his work rate alone and for the problems he’s caused West Ham, he probably deserves that fortune.”

Awoniyi’s goal goes down in history as the first Premier League goal for Nottingham Forest in 23 years since the historic club got relegated from the top flight during the 1998/99 season.

The Super Eagles star will be hoping to kick off a striking partnership with fellow Nigerian international and Nottingham Forest new signing Emmanuel Dennis when they travel to Goodison Park to face Everton on Saturday, August 20.
