2023: Soludo Speaks On Working Against Peter Obi

Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has denied claims that he is planning to truncate the ambition of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Naija News reports that the governor made this known in a statement released by his media aide, Christian Aburime, and made available to journalists in Awka on Wednesday.

The statement follows a report that Soludo ordered members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra to work against Obi at the polls.

According to the report, Soludo charged Anambra APGA to work against Obi because he was dreaming of the Presidency after Atiku Abubakar.

But in a statement by Aburime, the governor said that at no time during the APGA meeting was Obi mentioned or his presidential ambition discussed.

Atiku, Ayu, Okowa, Saraki, PDP Govs Meet

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar on Wednesday met with some Governors and stakeholders from the North East geo-political zone.

Naija News reports that Atiku received over 25, 000 defectors from various political parties across the State at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium Bauchi before the North East Consultative meeting.

Those present at the meeting at the Multi-Purpose hall Bauchi are: Bauchi Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri; former Senate President Bukola Saraki; Sokoto Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal; former Jigawa Governor Sule Lamido; former Niger Governor Babangida Aliyu; Vice presidential candidate of the PDP Governor Ifeanyi Okowa; National Chairman of the PDP, Iyorchia Ayu and Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed.

Others are Senator Dino Melaye one of the spokespeople for Atiku’s presidential campaign; Taraba Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku; Gombe PDP governorship candidate Dr. Mohammed Jibrin; Taraba governorship candidate Agbu Kefas; Yobe Gov candidate Shariff Abdullahi and Muhammad Ali Jajari, governorship candidate in Borno.

APC Governors Meet Adamu Over Presidential Campaign Council

Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are meeting with the National Chairman of the ruling party, Abdullahi Adamu.

Naija News reports that the Governors were led to the meeting by the Governor of Plateau State and Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Simon Lalong.

The meeting is taking place at the APC National Secretariat also known as Buhari House in Abuja.

It was learned that the purpose of the meeting is the composition of the presidential campaign council.

Among those at the meeting include former APC chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, and members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

APC Speaks On Delay Of Presidential Campaign Council Inauguration

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has shed more light on the delay of its Presidential Campaign Council.

Naija News had reported that the inauguration which was earlier fixed for Monday, September 26 was shifted to Wednesday, September 28, before it was postponed indefinitely.

In a Television interview on Tuesday, the Spokesman of the ruling party, Felix Morka, said the campaign council was postponed indefinitely in order to accommodate new members.

Morka stated that the council has been expanded which would guarantee the success of its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, in the 2023 elections.

Speaking further, Morka said the APC does not need to start its campaign before any other party because it is the ruling party.

The APC spokesman added that the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, can start their campaigns.

Atiku’s Campaign Spokesman Reacts To Wike’s Meeting With PDP BoT

The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday met with the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike in Port Harcourt.

The meeting which lasted for almost four hours was centred around the crisis in the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Governor Wike while addressing newsmen after the meeting reiterated that he and his allies are not dumping the party.

The former presidential aspirant also called for unity in the party despite their demand for the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu to resign from office.

The spokesman for the Atiku campaign, Charles Aniagwu while speaking on the outcome of the meeting held on Tuesday noted that the end to the crisis in the party is close.

According to Aniagwu, the reconciliation efforts of the party leadership are yielding results.

Aniagwu while speaking on AIT said Atiku, his running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa and other leaders in the party are involved in the reconciliation move.

APC Women Leader Reveals When Tinubu Will Return To Nigeria

The Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Leader, Jumoke Okoya-Thomas, has said the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, would return to Nigeria within the next 48 hours.

She stated that the former Governor of Lagos State was resting abroad and would return to the country after his vacation is over.

Okoya-Thomas made this known while appearing on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Wednesday.

According to the APC chieftain, Tinubu has never spent more than two weeks outside the country and this will not be an exception.

I’ve Been A Victim Of Election Rigging, Governors Are Guilty – Oshiomhole

Former Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole has reiterated the need to curb rigging in Nigeria’s electoral system even as the country prepares for the 2023 general elections.

According to him, he has been a victim of election rigging in the past and so fully understands the implication of such.

Naija News reports Oshiomhole, who is the deputy director-general of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign spoke on Tuesday at a citizens engagement programme hosted by YIAGA Africa and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with Channels TV.

He stressed that for free and fair elections to take place in Nigeria, not only the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) or security agents but all stakeholders must collaborate.

The APC chieftain added that political leaders must show good examples for their followers and supporters by avoiding all forms of electoral malpractice and continue to make them understand that politics is not a do-or-die affair.

Vote Buying: INEC To Deploy Spy At Polling Centers

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed plans to plant undercover security personnel on election day.

According to the Commission’s Chairman for Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, the commission in collaboration with security agencies are committed to delivering free, fair and credible elections to all Nigerians.

Okoye while speaking in Abuja at a programme tagged citizens’ election dialogue with the theme “What makes a good election in Nigeria” remarked that the above tactics is a way to tackle the menace of vote buying during the general elections.

He also maintained that to address the issue of vote buying, the commission has as well reconfigured the various polling units to guarantee the secrecy of the votes, and that it’s focused and determined to give Nigerians a good election.

Okoye furthered that the electoral body will continue to train its members of staff not only to ensure that election officials know how to configure and position the voting cubicle to guarantee the secrecy of the votes, but to also ensure a hitch-free poll.

PDP Sets Up Committee To Investigative NWC Bribe Allegation

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party,(PDP), Iyorchia Ayu, has set up an investigative committee to look into the allegations that the housing allowance paid to the accounts of the National Working Committee ( NWC) members was a bribe.

This is a development that followed yesterday’s meeting presided over by Ayu to address the crisis concerning the housing allowance payment.

In a statement issued by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the NWC resolved to conduct an inquiry into the source of the said malicious and injurious publication contained in The Nation newspaper of September 26, 2022, and as well conduct an extensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the said publication which reported that the housing allowance legally paid by the party to its National Officers was a bribe.

According to the statement, the said report was targeted to cause disaffection among members and stakeholders of the Party as well as bring the Party to disrepute before it’s teeming supporters all over the world, particularly in an election year.

The investigative Committee, which will be headed by the party’s National Legal Adviser, Kamaludeen Ajibade SAN is set to investigate the allegation and report back to the NWC within one week for further action.

2023: Why Tinubu Can’t Show His Medical Certificate – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, does not need to show anyone his certificate of medical fitness.

Naija News reports that concerns have been raised about Tinubu’s health, with the APC presidential candidate missing the signing of the Peace accord for the 2023 elections and other notable events.

Speaking on Tuesday during a television interview, APC Spokesman, Felix Morka, said the party knows that Tinubu’s body is old or aged but noted that his mind is still very fit and healthy.

The party spokesman maintained that its presidential candidate would not be stampeded into showing Nigerians his medical certificate for the sake of politics.

Morka said the only way Tinubu can show his medical certificate will be if the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and that of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, show theirs.

PDP Crisis: Wike Is One Of The Great Assets To Our Party – Ayu

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorcha Ayu, has described Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State as an asset to the party.

The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communication to the embattled national chairman, Yusuf Dingyadi, said this during an interview with reporters in Kaduna on Tuesday.

Dingyadi said Governor Wike is one of the leaders who has contributed immensely to the party and has helped to rescue the opposition party from crises.

He pointed out that Ayu did not wish to see the party in crisis, adding that efforts are been made to address individual differences that will lead the party to victory in the 2023 elections.

Dingyadi said since Ayu took over as the chairman of the party, he has made tremendous progress in building the party in all 36 States including Abuja.
