Abdullahi Adamu Announces Lalong As Tinubu’s Campaign DG

Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has been officially announced as the Director-General of the Bola Tinubu Presidential Campaign Council for the 2023 general elections.

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu, made the announcement during a chat with State House correspondents.

The APC chairman added that the former National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, has been appointed as the deputy Director-General.

Adamu had earlier met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja to inform him of the party’s decision to appoint Lalong as the head of Tinubu’s presidential campaign.

The APC chairman was accompanied by the presidential candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, vice presidential candidate, Senator Kashim Shettima, and Lalong.

Atiku Abubakar Meet Wike Over PDP Crisis

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday met with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.

According to Daily SUN, Atiku and Wike met at the home of a former Minister of Information, Jerry Gana, for lunch.

The meeting is one of the efforts to resolve the crisis in the PDP over the selection of a running mate to Atiku.

Recall that the decision of the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to pick Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate, snubbing a selection committee that had recommended Governor Wike, had thrown the main opposition party into crisis.

2023: Ex-Deputy Governor Katagum, Others Defect To PDP In Bauchi

The immediate past Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Audu Sule Katagum, has dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Naija News reports that some former commissioners and aides of the former Governor of the state, Abubakar Mohammed, also defected to the PDP.

Receiving the defectors at the Government House, Bauchi on Thursday, Governor Bala Mohammed applauded them for joining the ruling party in the state.

Mohammed also expressed gratitude to them for finding it worthy to dump their former party and join the ruling party in the state.

Atiku Abubakar Appoints Dino Melaye, Daniel Bwala As New Spokespersons

Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has approved the appointment of Dino Melaye, Dr. Daniel Bwala as spokespersons.

Naija News reports that this was made known in a statement signed by Atiku’s Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, on Thursday.

The duo are appointed as the spokespersons to the Presidential candidate of the PDP for the upcoming presidential campaign.

This online newspaper reports that Dino Melaye and Daniel Bwala’s appointments are with immediate effect.

Osun 2022: We Will Win In Court – Oyetola, APC Drag Adeleke, PDP Before Tribunal

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disclosed that it will be going to the election petition tribunal to challenge the outcome of the 2022 governorship election in Osun State.

This was disclosed on Thursday by the Chairman of the party in the state, Gboyega Famodun during a press conference held at the party secretariat in Osogbo, the state capital.

Famodun stated that the lawyers of the party and those of its candidate, Governor Gboyega Oyetola believe they have a good case and have concluded plans to approach the tribunal.

According to him, the lawyers have told us that “we have a strong case and we believe we will win at the court.”

Naija News recalls that Oyetola of the APC was defeated in the July 16 governorship election in Osun State by Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The APC has now confirmed it will be dragging the PDP, Adeleke and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before the governorship tribunal.

Court Takes Decision On Suit Seeking To Sack Ekiti Governor-elect, Biodun Oyebanji

The Federal High Court has struck out a suit seeking to sack the Governor-elect of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji as the authentic candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the election.

Justice Babs Kuewumi of the Federal High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, who presided over the case on Thursday ruled that the matter brought before the court was defective and thereafter struck it out.

Naija News reports the case was brought to court by another APC chieftain, Kayode Ojo, challenging Oyebanji’s emergence in the party’s governorship primary election.

Ojo in the suit marked FHC/ABJ/C5/15/2022 which was filed in the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court but later transferred to the Ado-Ekiti division, prayed the court to declare him the valid candidate of the APC from the January 27, 2020 APC governorship primary for Ekiti State.

Delivering judgment, Justice Kuewumi held that since the maker of the signature on the writ of summons and the plaintiff’s statement of claims could not be ascertained, the irregularities made the process defective.

Don’t Come Crying To Abuja After Elections – Adamu Warns APC Members

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu has urged members of the party to ensure they do all that is necessary before elections to win at the polls.

He made the submission while stressing the need to reconcile all aggrieved stakeholders and ensure the APC goes into the 2023 general elections with a common front.

Adamu pointed out the need on Wednesday in Abuja while speaking with journalists shortly after inaugurating an eight-member Abia Reconciliation Committee.

He said now is the time to work and put the house in order so as to be able to work as a team for victory in the upcoming 2023 general elections.

After inaugurating the reconciliatory committee, Adamu pointed out that it is left to the party leaders in Abia State to ensure things work out.

2023: Abaribe Condemns People Describing Peter Obi’s Ambition As Igbo Presidency

The lawmaker representing Abia South senatorial district, Enyinnaya Abaribe on Wednesday condemned those who are referring to the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi as ‘Igbo’ presidency.

The former minority leader lamented that some people are even linking Obi’s ambition to Biafra’s agitation.

Abaribe wondered why such persons have not described the presidential ambition of the All Progressives Congress flagbearer, Bola Tinubu as a Yoruba ticket.

He also questioned them for not referring to the ambition of the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar as the Fulani ticket.

Abaribe while speaking at a virtual town hall meeting by Ikengaonline on Wednesday said such people are trying to de-market Obi ahead of the 2023 race.

2023: PDP Reconciliation Committee Meets Atiku

A reconciliation committee set up by the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has met with the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar.

Naija News reports that the committee met with Abubakar at his Asokoro residence in Abuja on Wednesday shortly after the BoT meeting held at the PDP National Secretariat.

Earlier, the BoT Chairman, Walid Jibrin, while speaking with journalists said that all members of the BoT are part of the reconciliatory committee.

Jibrin said the committee would interface and try to resolve the acrimony taking place between Abubakar and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.

Delta: PDP Members Storm Secretariat, Demand Ayu’s Resignation

Some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State stormed the National Secretariat of the party in Abuja on Wednesday.

Naija News reports that the protesters stormed the party secretariat at the Wadata Plaza over the ongoing crisis in the Delta state chapter of the party over the 2023 governorship ticket.

The protesters, acting under the aegis of Concerned Deltans for Good Governance, also demanded the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu.

The protesters condemned the refusal of Ayu to obey an order of the Federal High Court which sacked Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as the PDP flagbearer in next year’s governorship election in Delta.

They stated that Olorogun David Edevbie was the lawfully nominated and authentic candidate of the party and not Oborevwori, Speaker of the Delta House of Assembly.

I Didn’t Say APC Imported Fulani Militias To Disrupt 2015 Elections – Baraje

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abubakar Kawu Baraje has denied reports quoting him as saying that the All Progressives Congress (APC) brought in Fulani militias from neighbouring countries to disrupt the 2015 general elections.

Some news platforms on Monday quoted Baraje as saying that the insecurity can be traced to the importation of Fulani individuals from Mali, Niger Republic, and Chad, into the country for election purposes in 2015.

Speaking during an appearance on Wednesday on Arise TV, Baraje said that the reports are fake and baseless, saying that the reports were meant to ridicule him.

The PDP chieftain asserted that his political enemies conjured a smear campaign against him. He added that the reports were referring to a press conference he granted in 2019.

Baraje explained that what he said at the time was that in the build-up to the 2015 general elections, the APC prepared all manners of scandals to ensure that if it didn’t win, then Nigeria does not stay.

2023 Presidency: Deji Adeyanju Slams Atiku Over Campaign Video

Human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju has berated the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, over his campaign video for the 2023 general elections.

Naija News recalls that Atiku Abubakar released a one-minute video clip of his manifesto via his verified Twitter page on Wednesday morning.

The opening message of the video reads: “Hello ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking, welcome on board flight 2023 Atiku/Okowa 2023, I have my co-pilot here with me, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, keeping track of all navigation systems, our destination is a ‘United Nigeria’…”

Naija News reports that the video has, however, generated a lot of reactions on Twitter, minutes after it was posted.

Also reacting, Adeyanju took to his Twitter handle to slam the former vice president for making promises in his campaign video.

He reminded the PDP presidential candidate of how the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) promised restructuring in 2015 and they denied it thereafter.
