INEC Declares PDP’s Adeleke Winner Of Osun Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ademola Adeleke winner of the Osun State Governorship election.

Adeleke defeated the incumbent governor of the state and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Gboyega Oyetola and thirteen other candidates in the July 16th election.

The PDP governorship candidate was declared the winner at the head office of INEC in Osogbo, the state capital which was used as the collation centre.

Adeleke won 17 local government areas in the state, while the candidate of the APC, Oyetola won the remaining 13 local government areas in the state.

The incumbent governor of the state who was defeated in the election gathered 375,027 votes, while Adeleke polled 403,371 votes to win the election.

2023: Ohanaeze Refutes Endorsing Any Presidential Candidate

Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide has refuted purported claims that the group has endorsed any Presidential candidate, contrary to the widespread reports that it has endorsed the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for the 2023 Presidential election.

This was just as the group however disclosed that the Igbo socio-cultural group would make its position known on where Igbo votes will go to.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary-General Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro and made available to the pressmen on Sunday in Kaduna.

The body further disclosed that it acknowledged that some contenders for the 2023 Presidential election have some level of admiration which is worthy of emulation but it does not mean that it’s an endorsement.

#OsunDecides: Secondus Reacts As INEC Declares Adeleke Winner

The former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prince Uche Secondus, has hailed the emergence of Senator Ademola Adeleke as the Governor-elect of Osun State.

Naija News had earlier reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared Adeleke as the winner of Saturday’s Osun governorship election.

Adeleke, the PDP candidate polled 403,371 votes to defeat the candidate of the All Progressives Congress and incumbent governor, Gboyega Oyetola, who gathered 375,027 votes.

Secondus in a statement on Sunday titled ‘Osun Decides: Secondus Congratulates Adeleke’, and signed by his spokesman, Ike Abonyi, congratulated Senator Adeleke on his well-deserved victory.

2023: Atiku Seeks Obasanjo’s Endorsement For Presidency

The camp of the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, is planning to seek the support and open endorsement of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Naija News reports that the National Publicity Secretary of the Atiku Support Organisation, Dr Victor Moses, made the disclosure in an interview with The PUNCH on Sunday.

Moses stated that genuine moves were underway to ensure that Obasanjo endorsed Atiku for the 2023 presidency the same way he did in the 2019 presidential election.

He stated that it seems Obasanjo is supporting another candidate, but the party and the Atiku camp are doing everything possible to win him over.

Osun Election: Oyetola Reacts To Adeleke’s Victory

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress and incumbent governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola has reacted to the victory of Ademola Adeleke, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 16th, July gubernatorial election.

Oyetola in his reaction said the leadership of the APC are still studying the outcome of the governorship election.

The Osun State Governor in a statement released through his Chief Press Secretary, Ismail Omipidan on Sunday said the APC would react after appraising the outcome of the election.

Oyetola called on his supporters in the state to remain calm and go about their businesses without hindrance.

Osun 2022: PDP Ready To Rescue Nigeria From APC – Ortom

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State says the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is ready to rescue the country from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governor said this while reacting to the victory of Senator Ademola Adeleke, the PDP candidate in the just-concluded Osun gubernatorial election.

Ortom stated that the emergence of Senator Adeleke as the Osun governor-elect is a measure of trust and confidence of the citizens in him and the PDP.

In a congratulatory message on Sunday, Ortom commended the Osun governor-elect for his steadfastness, hard work and commitment to the welfare of the people which earned him the victory.

The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, has deleted a post on his social media platform which he posted earlier following the emergence of Ademola Adeleke as the elected Governor of Osun State.

Naija News reports that Adeleke who contested under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defeated the incumbent Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola in the just concluded gubernatorial election in the state.

Governor Oyetola who was the standard flag-bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), garnered 375,027 votes during the polls and came second behind Adeleke who polled 403,371 votes to win the election.

Osun: ‘The People Have Expressed Their Will’ – President Buhari Congratulates Adeleke

President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday congratulated the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, Ademola Adeleke on his victory in the Saturday gubernatorial election.

The President in a statement released through his spokesman, Femi Adesina, expressed confidence that the people of Osun have expressed their will through the ballot.

According to Buhari, the successful conduct of the Osun State governorship election on the 16th of July is a testimonial to the maturity and commitment of all stakeholders.

Osun 2022: Davido Replies Oyetola Over Statement On Adeleke’s Victory

Nigerian singer, Davido has replied Governor Gboyega Oyetola over his statement on the victory of Ademola Adeleke, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Osun gubernatorial election.

Naija News reports that Oyetola in his reaction had said that the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are still studying the outcome of the governorship election.

The Osun Governor in a statement released through his Chief Press Secretary, Ismail Omipidan on Sunday said the APC would react after appraising the outcome of the election.

Oyetola called on his supporters in the state to remain calm and go about their business without hindrance.

He also called on security operatives in the state to ensure the maintenance of law and order.

Reacting to the statement, Davido via his micro-blogging platform, Twitter urged the sitting governor to congratulate his successor and do nothing else.

Shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke as the winner of the election, Aregbesola took to his social media page and quoted a portion of the Holy Bible saying: “This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the Most-High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men -Daniel 4:17.

The Minister who is known as a devoted Muslim has, however, returned to social media and deleted the post, stating that it was unauthorized.

Sokoto: Tambuwal Aide, Gidado Dumps PDP For APC

The Sokoto State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday received into its fold the Special Adviser to Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, Ibrahim Gidado.

Naija News understands that the politician defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Gidado who represents Sokoto South State Constituency, was received into the ruling party by Senator Aliyu Wamako, the leader of the party in the state.

The development was made public in a statement released to the public by Bashar Abubakar, Media Aide to Sen. Wamakko (APC-Sokoto North), on Sunday in Sokoto.

2023: Wike, Saraki, Others Set To Be Named In Atiku Presidential Campaign Council

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State among others are set to be named in the campaign council of the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.

Naija News reports that Wike, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, former Senate President Bukola Saraki and other presidential aspirants will be part of the council.

It is understood that the move was to douse the tension in the party following Atiku’s decision to name Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta State, as his running mate for the 2023 presidential election.

In a chat with The Punch, Atiku’s Spokesman, Paul Ibe said all aspirants who lost out in the primaries of the PDP and other party members will be integrated into the team.

Adeleke Speaks On Emergence As Osun Governor-Elect

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Osun State Governorship election, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has reacted to his emergence as the winner of the exercise.

Recall that Adeleke was declared the winner of the June 16 poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday morning.

The INEC returning officer for the Osun governorship poll, Prof Oluwatoyin Temitayo Ogundipe, made the declaration on Sunday morning.

Adeleke defeated the incumbent governor of the state and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Gboyega Oyetola and thirteen other candidates to emerge victorious.

In a tweet via his Twitter handle on Sunday morning, Adeleke said that he has brought light to the South West state.

He wrote: “I have brought light to Osun State.#Osundecided.”
