Tinubu’s Ally, Abdulmumin Jibrin Joins Kwankwaso In NNPP

A former member of the House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin has officially joined the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

Recall that the Jibrin, who was the Director-General of the Bola Tinubu Support groups had announced he was leaving the All Progressives Congress in a post on his Twitter page on Saturday, May 7, 2022.

The news about his new party was shared on the official Twitter handle of the NNPP on Friday.

Ngige Withdraws From 2023 Presidential Race

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige has dropped his 2023 presidential ambition and abandoned the steps towards securing the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Naija News reports the Minister announced his withdrawal from the 2023 presidential race in a statement on Friday.

According to Ngige, his decision to withdraw from the race to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari follows consultation with his family, supporters and other stakeholders.

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu on Friday stated that ruling Nigeria requires intelligence, smartness and not strength to resolve the crisis rocking the country.

The Presidential aspirant stated this on Friday while addressing party delegates in Minna ahead of the party primaries.

He stated that Nigerians are looking for a president who will look at economic opportunities and turn them around to prosperity.

2023: Adesina Confirms Buhari’s Position On His Preferred Presidential Candidate

President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, has established that his principal is interested in following due process for the All Progressives Congress to produce its presidential candidate for the 2023 elections.

Adesina affirmed that the leader has a favourite candidate to succeed him in 2023, but will prefer not to mention the person’s name for security reasons.

2023 Elections: Why Presidential Ticket Was Thrown Open – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has revealed why it threw open its presidential ticket for the 2023 general elections.

Recall that the party announced on Wednesday that it had thrown the contest for the presidential ticket open and jettisoned zoning.

In an interview on Channels Television on Friday, PDP spokesman, Debo Ologunagba, said the party made the decision to allow a competent candidate to emerge from its presidential primary.

2023 Presidency: Goodluck Jonathan Is Still Our Member – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has disclosed that former President Goodluck Jonathan is still a member of the opposition party.

Naija News had reported that a source in Jonathan’s camp confirmed that the former Nigerian leader registered his membership with the ruling party at his Otuoke Ward in Bayelsa State.

Reacting to the development, PDP spokesman, Debo Ologunagba, said the former President has not dumped the party and was not aware of his resignation.

Why Buhari Ordered Ministers With Political Ambitions To Resign – Presidency

The Presidency has given reasons why President Muhammadu Buhari ordered Ministers and political appointees contesting in the 2023 general elections to resign.

Recall that Buhari had during Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting asked Ministers to resign on or before Monday 16th, May 2022.

In a circular on Thursday, Buhari also directed all heads of agencies, departments, parastatals and ambassadors with political ambitions to turn in their resignations.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha signed the circular which directed all heads of agencies with political ambition to resign.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Buhari’s Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina said the political appointees were asked to resign to save the APC from crisis resulting from the controversial Section 84(12) of the Electoral Act 2022.

2023: PANDEF Knocks PDP For Throwing Presidential Ticket Open, Tells APC What To Do

A sociopolitical group, Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has condemned the decision of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to throw open its 2023 presidential ticket instead of zoning it to the southern part of the country, insisting that the next president must come from the South.

For PANDEF, PDP is throwing away its best chance of toppling APC in the 2023 general election.

The group’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Robinson, said the decision by PDP’s Zoning Committee led by Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State which arrived at the decision, was ill-advised and allegedly acted on a planned script.

Kano Assembly Deputy Speaker Dumps APC

Again, Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC has lost another top party member, Zubairu Hamza Massu, Naija News reports.

Massu who is the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, confirmed his membership withdrawal in a letter addressed to the APC ward chairman in Massu town.

Stating his reason for dumping the ruling party, the deputy speaker said he could no longer tolerate the unjust treatment, inadequate internal democracy and total marginalization of Kano south.
