Alex Iwobi is understood to have suffered ankle ligament damage during Everton’s FA Cup 3-1 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Friday.

The Nigerian left Old Trafford on crutches and will undergo scans in the coming days, Everton manager Frank Lampard says.

Iwobi suffered a bad challenge from Manchester United defender Tyrell Malacia early in the second half and had to be replaced by Abdoulaye Doucouré after 52 minutes.

“We hope it’s not too serious. It looks like an ankle ligament injury. He will have a scan tomorrow to confirm,” Everton manager, Frank Lampard told the press after the game.

Iwobi received a standing ovation from the traveling fans as he left the field on crutches.
