Lalong Or Oshiomhole? APC ‘Campaign DG’ Named As Keyamo, Alake, Onanuga Get Fresh Appointments

Detail Of Tinubu, Shettima's Meeting With APC Governors, Others Emerge

Barring any last-minute politicking, Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State will be named as the Director-General of the presidential campaign council of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Naija News understands that his appointment is subject to the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC National Working Committee (NWC).

While Lalong will coordinate the presidential campaign for the ruling party’s candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a former Edo State Governor and ex-National Chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, will act as his deputy.

The decision to pick the duo to lead the campaign was taken at a meeting held in Abuja on Monday which had in attendance the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu; his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima; and some APC governors.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, who was earlier tipped to be the campaign DG but was dropped because of his religion, had refused to disclose who was selected to lead the ruling party’s campaign while speaking to newsmen on Monday.

A source told Vanguard that Governor Lalong is the choice of the governors for campaign council DG, with Oshiomhole as his deputy.

Those pushing for Lalong argued that the APC needs a Northern Christian as DG to assuage the feelings of Northern Christians in the party, following the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the party.

Keyamo, Alake, Onanuga gets fresh appointments

Meanwhile, the appointment of leaders of the media department of the ruling APC presidential campaign council has already taken place.

A top member of the Bola Tinubu team disclosed that the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo (SAN); a former Lagos State Commissioner of Information and Strategy in Lagos, Dele Alake; and the Publisher of PM news, Bayo Onanuga; have all been appointed spokesmen for the APC campaign council.

“The media department of the APC campaign council will be run by a triumvirate of directors, made up of Dele Alake as director of strategic communications, Bayo Onanuga, director of media and publicity, and Festus Keyamo, director of public affairs and chief spokesman,” the source said.
