Just In: Akpabio Wins APC Senate Ticket After Stepping Down For Tinubu

NDDC: 12,128 Abandoned Projects Have Been Uncovered — Akpabio

The former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio has won the senatorial ticket of the All Progressives Congress for the Akwa Ibom North-West constituency.

Recall that the former Minister of Niger Delta stepped down for the National Leader of the ruling party, Bola Tinubu in the just concluded presidential primary of the party.

Akpabio clinched the senatorial ticket after gathering 478 votes.

512 delegates were accredited for the primary, of which Joseph Akpan had one vote, DIG Ekpo Udom who initially won the first primary had three votes, while 11 votes were voided.

Akpabio while speaking at the Godswill Akpabio Empowerment Centre in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, where the primary was held appreciated the people for supporting him.

The former minister in his appreciation statement said, “I thank the Akwa Ibom North-West senatorial district for finding me worthy to be given another opportunity to represent you in the Nigerian Senate. I recall when you gave me the first mandate in 2015 to 2019, I recall that there is no Senator ever that did the kind of empowerment I did for you.

“I know a lot of projects were done across the ten local government areas, from markets to water projects, to electrification projects, to the building of classroom blocks.”
