Jurgen Klopp laments Liverpool’s defending in defeat to Arsenal

Jurgen Klopp has lamented Liverpool’s defending and the early goal his side conceded in their 3-2 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

The Reds now sit a disappointing 10th in the Premier League table having won just two of their opening eight games this season.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Klopp discussed what went wrong for his side on Sunday, stating:

“The early goal which we conceded is obviously very, very much the opposite of everything you want to have here [at the Emirates Stadium] because, with the moment Arsenal is in and the moment we are in, I think it’s really the worst thing that could happen.

“We should have defended better. Not the last pass, but before that there were four or five times were we have to interrupt the situation.

“This game is gone now, we cannot accept this situation. We did a lot of good things, scored two really nice goals, against the team in-form in the league and we’re probably the team not in-form in the league.”

When asked about how he intends to turnaround Liverpool’s fortunes, Klopp replied: “Working, talking, thinking – probably first – and then talking to the boys, and then coaching them, and helping them and then go again.

“We don’t have to look yet at the table but we know where we are without looking at it, we are not dumb. The table is not the problem, the problem is the points but they make the place in the table. We have to sort it and we will.”
