‘It’s Better To Send Representative Than Run Away’

Kwankwaso

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has slammed his counterpart in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, for failing to attend the debate organized for presidential candidates.

Naija News reports that the debate was organised by Arise Television in collaboration with the Centre for Development and Democracy (CDD) at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja on Sunday.

Reacting to Tinubu’s absence at the event, Kwankwaso criticized the APC candidate for failing to attend or send a representative to share his ideas about security and the economy with Nigerians.

Kwankwaso spoke against the backdrop of a protest against the presence of the Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, at the debate.

The former Governor of Kano State noted that due to the busy schedule of some presidential candidates, there may be a need for their running mates to represent them at events.

He said the PDP flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar, did well to have sent his running mate to represent him at the event than Tinubu who didn’t show up at all or send any representative.

He said, “No candidate can boast of saying ‘I will attend all of them.’ Whichever group that is having this sort of thing should accept it. I think the man sitting here (pointing to Okowa) is better than the person who did not come or send any representative.
