The wife of the businessman, Alika Ogorchukwu, Charity Oriachi, who was beaten to death in Italy has demanded justice for her husband.

The 39-year-old Nigerian businessman was beaten to death by an Italian man in Civitanova Marche city, located in the Province of Macerata, Marche Region of Italy.

Naija News gathered that the unfortunate incident occurred on Friday afternoon, 29th July 2022, on a busy street, in a dispute over a woman.

Vides making the rounds online shows the attack occurred in front of shocked onlookers, who made little or no attempt to prevent the death.

Cause Of Alika’s Death

The Police while briefing the public on the incident said, Alika was selling tissues and small accessories at about 2 p.m. local time on the city’s main street when his attacker grabbed a crutch the vendor used to walk and struck him down.

The victim had asked the attacker’s girlfriend to buy his scarves or give him money.

Video footage of the attack also shows the assailant, wrestling the victim to the pavement as the victim fought back but was subdued by the weight of his attacker.

Police Arrest Italian Attacker

The Police used street cameras to track the assailant’s movements and later detained the man identified as Filippo.

He is being held on suspicion of murder and theft after being accused of stealing the victim’s phone.

Filippo’s girlfriend told the police that her partner had lost his temper because the seller was insistent that they buy something.

Alika’s Wife Demands Justice

The wife of the deceased, Oricha in a video shared by DailyMail cried for justice over the death of her husband.

She said: “I need justice for my husband. That is what I want. I need justice. The pain is too much for me.”

The Nigerian Embassy in Rome, Italy, in a statement, condemned the killing, describing it as brutal.

The statement read: “His Excellency, Ambassador Mfawa Omini Abam has condemned the gruesome murder and has commiserated with Mrs Charity Oriachi, wife of the deceased, and the rest of his family.

“His Excellency has directed the provision of immediate consular assistance as appropriate. The embassy is currently collaborating with relevant Italian authorities to ensure justice is served and to provide succour to the family of the deceased.”
