IPOB Reveals Why Nnamdi Kanu Was Denied Bail

Igbo Youths React As Justice Nyako Denies Nnamdi Kanu Bail

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has said that the bail application of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, was not granted because of President Muhammadu Buhari’s recent body language and utterances.

Naija News reports that Justice Nyako adjourned the case of the pro-Biafra activist till November 14, 2022, pending the determination of the Appeal Court.

It was gathered that Nnamdi Kanu’s legal team would approach the Court of Appeal following his bail denial by the High Court.

The IPOB leader is being tried over alleged running an illegal group, treason, and jumping bail.

In an interview with The PUNCH, IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, said the court ruling was not surprising and didn’t come to IPOB members as a shock.

He said that Buhari’s comment on the matter during his recent meeting with the UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, in Rwanda was aimed at intimidating the judge to dismiss the bail application.

Powerful, however, advised IPOB members and Kanu’s supporters to stay calm, assuring them of victory at the end of the trial.

He said, “Buhari’s recent statement in Kigali, Rwanda was a testament that he has lost focus because he said he won’t interfere in the judicial process on Nnamdi Kanu, but was talking with both sides of his mouth.

“IPOB understands the body language of Buhari and his Federal Government that they will influence Justice Binta Nyako to drop bail applications for Nnamdi Kanu’s freedom.

“But we are ready to wait for them. We want to use this medium to inform humanity, particularly Biafrans to stay calm and that victory must come to us.”
