The Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) has released the timetable for the elections into the offices of Chairmen, Vice Chairman and Councillors in the twenty-seven local government areas of the state, slated to hold on Saturday, the 12th of March, 2022.
A release signed by the Chairman, ISIEC, Mrs Pauline Onyeka, in Owerri, Imo State said, as part of the Commission’s efforts to ensure a free and fair electoral process, it has unveiled the electoral guidelines for the elections to all political parties and the general public.
The Commission requested all registered political parties wishing to participate in the forthcoming elections to inform ISIEC in writing, the date, time and venue of their primaries between 8th November to 8th December 2021.
The Commission also said the conducts of party primaries by political parties will be supervised by ISIEC, informing that the commencement of payment by candidates and presentation of none refundable deposit and presentation of bank tellers will commence between 8th November to 8th December 2021
ISIEC informed that the collection of ISIEC DF forms 001 and 002, affidavit, personal particulars for candidates for the elections will commence between 9th November – 23rd December 2021.
The Commission said the deadline for collection of ISIEC DF forms 001 and 002, at ISIEC headquarters Orlu road, Owerri is 10th January 2022, while the validation of documents of councillorship candidates by the commission shall hold between 12 January – 17 January 2022.
ISIEC said the validation of documents of Chairmanship candidates by the commission shall hold between 19 January to 21 January 2022.
”Validation of documents of Vice Chairmanship candidates by the commission shall hold between 19 January to 21 January 2022”.
The Commission explained that the delivery of lists of validated and invalidated candidates to political parties is slated for 24th January 2022, while appeal and substitution of invalidated candidates is between 25 January – 28 January 2022.
ISIEC pointed out that the last date for substitution of withdrawal candidates by political parties and validation is 2nd February 2022.(Dailypost)
