Some gun-wielding terrorists have reportedly killed a police inspector in Shao, a community in Kwara State.
Reports reaching Naija News at the moment confirmed that the assailants also abducted a Chinese national during the attack in the north-central state of Nigeria.
It was reported that another police officer sustained a serious gun injury during the incident but has been taken to a hospital for medical attention.
Confirming the incident, the Kwara State Police Command said the killing and abduction took place at a quarry in Shao in the Moro Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered also that the gunmen burnt the car allegedly used in the operation on Sunday and disappeared without any trace.
“The command is in a mourning mood over the killing of one of our operatives.
”The command is working round the clock to get the victim rescued and apprehend the perpetrators,” Channels Television quoted the Police Public Relations Officer in Kwara, Okasanmi Ajayi as saying while recounting the incident.
Ajayi said the Commissioner of Police in Kwara, Tuesday Assayomo, has set up a special investigation team to probe the matter.
“The people of Kwara State will be briefed accordingly on our progress,” he said.
The attack, Naija News understands is coming a few days after bandit terrorists reportedly kidnapped two Chinese nationals and killed scores of security agents during an attack on a mining site in Niger State.
Naija News gathered that the attack happened on Wednesday afternoon in Ajata, Aboki in Gurmana ward of Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
Speaking with reporters on Thursday, the Co-convener, Concerned Shiroro Youth of Niger State, Sani Kokki said the gunmen attacked the mining site and opened fire into the air.
He also stated that the bandits kidnapped a yet-to-be-identified number of people including two Chinese expatriates and killed some security operatives.
It was learned that Major Anara, and Capt Abubakar Samido, were among the military casualties in the attack carried out by terrorists.
