Gunmen on Saturday evening invaded the residence of the priest in charge of St. Mary Immaculate church in Aho community of Owukpa in Ogbadibo local government area of Benue State.
A source from the area told Naija News on phone that the gunmen stormed the residence of the Rev. Father in the community but didn’t meet the priest at home.
According to the source, the gunmen abducted the Rev Father’s cook, instead.
“Some gunmen have yesterday evening invaded our community and went straight to the residence of the Rev Fr. They did not see him and they decided to go away with the priest’s cook.
“They were shooting sporadically and unfortunately, a passer-by was hit by a stray bullet,” the source narrated.
Hon. Samuel Onu, chairman of the local government confirmed the attack, but however, said normalcy had returned to the community.
Meanwhile, police Public Relations Officer Benue state Command, SP Catherine Anene, denied knowledge of the attack but said she would find out from her men in the local government.
