Govt Will Support Reforms In Adamawa Specialist Hospital Yola - Fintiri

Governor Umaru Fintiri says his administration will support any law that will make Adamawa State Specialist Hospital, Yola autonomous and more effective.

The Governor stated this when he granted audience to members of the governing board of Adamawa State Specialist Hospital, Yola.

Led by the Commissioner of Health, Professor Abdullahi Isa, Finitiri recalled the pathetic condition of the health institution before the advent of his administration and vowed to continue to reposition it to meet up the health challenges of the people.

Fintiri said, “whatever service obtainable to keep healthcare services effective in the state will be vigorously pursued to make the sector one of the best in the country”.

He expressed dismay at the recent protest in the hospital by some staff against the medical director whom he described as a committed person who was appointed based on merit for a period of 4 years.

Earlier, the spokesman of the delegation, Doctor Dauda Wadinga who is the medical director of the State Specialist Hospital, Yola thanked Governor Fintiri for transforming the hospital.

He said the present administration has ensured sanitary conditions of the health centre, resuscitated water, electricity and installed solar energy, as well as erected fences where necessary in the hospital among others.

The MD said the hospital is no longer transferring patients with high complications to other states for referral services but asked for the provision of more manpower for the clinical services.

He commended the Fintiri-led administration for building well equipped molecular laboratory that will address covid-19 among other diseases in addition to providing another dialysis machine in the hospital.

While soliciting for the renovation of the hospital houses and provision of utility vehicles for transporting staff and other services for effective service delivery, he pledged the commitment of the staff of the Hospital.
