Governor-Elect In Zamfara Claims God Used His Election To Answer His People’s Prayers

The governor-elect of Zamfara state, Dr. Dauda Lawal Dare has claimed that his emergence as the governor of the state in the March 18 governorship election signifies that God has heard the people’s prayers.

Before the election, Zamfara state was one of the states in the northern part of Nigeria bedeviled by constant terrorist attacks which means that one of the core objectives of the governor-elect is to protect his people.

Most commentators in the state believe that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) led government under incumbent governor Mohammed Bello Matawalle didn’t do enough in terms of securing the state.

That is believed to be the reason why the majority of the people decided to vote for the People’s Democratic Party in the governorship election which paved the way for the emergence of Dr. Dauda Lawal Dare.

In an interview with the BBC Hausa, on Wednesday, the governor-elect stressed that his victory at the polls is a way God has decided to rescue the state from insecurity.

The governor-elect was quoted as saying, “Power is from God, not from man. That has been demonstrated in Zamfara State.

“It’s a very happy moment in Zamfara State. God has salvaged the people of Zamfara with my election. The people are in terrible condition, worsening insecurity. God has seen my intention toward this. That could be the driving force behind my success.

“I have followed all due legal process. The election was very fair. We won in over 11 Local Government Areas. Even those Local Government Areas they said they won, they did not, we won.”
