Gov. Adeleke suspends Osun electoral body chairman, six others over alleged corruption

Governor Ademola Adeleke has suspended the Chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC), Segun Oladitan, and six members of the commission.

The suspension was contained in a statement issued by the Secretary to the Osun State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, on Monday.

Yusuf Oyeniran, Suibat Adubi, Yinka Ajiboye, Abosede Omibeku, Dosu Gidigbi and Wahab Adewoyin were the six other members of the commission that were suspended.

“This suspension is sequel to several petitions bothering on financial impropriety, dereliction of duty, absenteeism and abuse of office against the said Chairman and members of the Commission.

“Pending the outcome of investigation into the allegations against the suspended Chairman and members of the Commission, the Secretary to the Commission shall hold forth in running the affairs of the Commission,” the statement added.

Mr Adeleke on Sunday took the oath of office alongside his deputy, Kola Adewusi, at the Osogbo city stadium, amid cheers from supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The governor had immediately ordered that the state government account be frozen, just as he reversed the name change of the state back to ‘Osun state’.
