Gabriel’s Goal Sends Arsenal Back To The Top

Chelsea Vs Arsenal: Gabriel’s Goal Sends Arsenal Back To The Top

Brazilian Defender, Gabriel Magalhães helped Arsenal secure 1-0 victory against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

After the home team mishandled a corner kick from the right side by Bukayo Sako, the former Lille defender  pounced to nudge the ball across the goal line in the 63rd minute, giving the Gunners a deserving lead.

When there was no goal, they had the greatest opportunities to score, but Gabriel Martinelli missed the target with a shot and Gabriel Jesus missed the goal with a diving header.

With former Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang unable to make an impression against his old team, Chelsea failed to produce clear-cut opportunities and has now gone four Premier League games without a victory.

The 2-1 victory against Fulham by 10-man Manchester City on Saturday, with Erling Haaland’s decisive penalty in the fifth minute of stoppage time, cost Arsenal the top place, but after a win against Chelsea in the London derby, Mikel’s Arteta’s men are now two points ahead of Pep Guardiola’s team.

For the first time since 1974, Arsenal has now won three straight-away games at Stamford Bridge.

However, Arsenal, who has not finished in the top four since 2016, has defeated Tottenham, Liverpool and now Chelsea at home this season, despite a dismal 3-1 loss to Manchester United in September.
