Students of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) have reacted to the donation of a water borehole at the male hostel of the varsity by the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye.
Naija News understands that FUTA Management had, in November last year, named the New Male Undergraduate Hostel after Pastor Adeboye, a gesture appreciated by the renowned clergyman.
Pastor Adeboye, in return, drilled a borehole at the hostel to curb one of the challenges within the area. Reports said the RCCG overseer also gave financial relief to the school.
At the formal handover of the borehole project, Pastor Adeboye, represented by the Assistant Continental Overseer of the church, Continental 3 and pastor in charge of Region 22, Akure, Ondo State, Pastor Elijah Olujimi Ajibade, said the reason behind the project was to alleviate some water challenges being experienced in the hostel.
Again, the cleric thanked FUTA for deeming it fit to name the hostel after him. He pledged that the RCCG would continue to ensure that the hostel is supported in line with the Corporate Social Responsibility ethos of the Church.
Reacting to the gesture on behalf of his colleagues, the Vice Chairman of Enoch Adejare Adeboye Male hostel, Okikiri Favour, a 400-level student in the Department of Remote Sensing and GIS, expressed his delight at the gesture, which he described as timely and Godly.
The student acknowledged that the borehole would not only provide water but also bring great succour to the occupants of the Hostel.
Okiki promised that the borehole would be maintained to serve the purpose of its construction. He also thanked RCCG and the FUTA management for making the project possible.
On his part, the Dean of the Student Affairs Division, Professor Olanrewaju Oke, commended the leadership of RCCG for fulfilling the pledge earlier made.
He thanked the RCCG and congratulated the Men of Grace, as the hostel students are fondly called. He promised that the borehole would be regularly maintained to serve the purpose it was made for many more years to come.
In her remark, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji, thanked the RCCG and noted that beyond the borehole, a cash gift was also donated and lots of prayers were said for the institution.
According to her, Adeboye’s ministry had become a global brand that should be commended for its mission of spreading the gospel of Godliness and giving back to society through structured CSR initiatives.
She urged and encouraged well-meaning individuals and organizations to follow in the steps of the RCCG by stretching hands of fellowship towards the institution.
