Bandit Terrorists Kidnap Scores Of Travellers On Kaduna Expressway

At least four people were reportedly killed when terrorists invaded two communities in the Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

One of the victims is identified as Elisha Arkiki. A resident, Didan Auta, told newsmen that Arziki had newly relocated to the community following his recruitment as a primary school teacher.

He disclosed that the attack was carried out on Sunday evening in Gefe and Tudun Mare communities, both in the Kajuru Local Government Area.

“The youth leader, alongside two villagers, was killed by the bandits when they stormed the village on Sunday. They were buried on Monday,” Auta said to newsmen, adding that the teacher was killed on Sunday night at Tudun mare.

The State Police Command, however, is yet to make any official statement on the attack as of reporting time, Naija News understands.

The Ekiti State Command of the Nigeria Police Force said it apprehended a truck driver for allegedly crushing two of its officers to death.

Naija News learnt that the tragic incident happened on Monday, November 14, 2022, in the Adebayo area of Ado Ekiti.

The spokesperson for the command, Sunday Abutu, who confirmed the incident to newsmen, said the unfortunate event happened yesterday morning.

According to Abutu, the officers came from Iworoko Ekiti to their duty post in Ado Ekiti when the truck rammed into them.

“The policemen were on their lane. The truck driver was negotiating a diversion placed on the road by the construction company rehabilitating the Ado-Iworoko-Ifaki Road by turning to the left side and overran them.

“We learned the two of them died. The driver of the tipper has been arrested while the corpses have been deposited in the morgue at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital,” Abutu noted.

An eyewitness who spoke with The PUNCH affirmed the incident, noting that the policemen were conveying themselves to work on a motorcycle when the truck driver hit them at a spot where traffic was diverted for reconstruction purposes on the dualized Ado-Iworoko Road.

“The policemen were coming towards the heart of the town while the truck was going towards the direction of Iworoko when the driver suddenly crossed to their lane due to the road diversion and crushed them,” said the eyewitness, who pleaded not to be mentioned in print.

Reacting to the incident, the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Ekiti State Command, Olusola Joseph, lamented motorists’ violation of road rules.
