The prize presentation was held yesterday at the FirstBank headquarters.

A customer of FirstBank, identified as Olakunle Animashaun on Friday, 5th August, emerged winner of a brand new car in the FirstBank Verve Card Campaign.

The winner, who is a businessman received the star prize of the Verve Promo, at a ceremony which was held at FirstBank’s headquarters in Marina, Lagos.

Within the period of the campaign which spanned over 4 months, FirstBank rewarded many customers with various cash gifts, airtime, gas cookers, generator sets and 32 inches LED television.

To qualify for the reward, customers were required to perform a specific number of transactions weekly, using the Verve Card.

Speaking at the event, the Group Executive, eBusiness and Retail Products, Chuma Ezirim, said the promo was aimed at creating good customer experiences and rewarding loyal customers.

According to Chima, over N50 million was mapped out for the project and the financial institution hopes to make it a yearly programme, depending on their budget.

He said: “The promo is aimed at rewarding our over 8 million Verve owners with the bank and we are doing it in conjunction with the Verve card scheme. We are proud as a bank to partner with the Verve card scheme, this partnership has spanned over 15 years, and we aim to deepen our relationship with our customers and ease their financial services and over 50 million was mapped out for the project”

“Yes, we intend to sustain it, it is part of the programme we use in targeting our customers and just to reward their patronage. It is not a financial literacy programme or CSR. It is a reward programme. We are rewarding loyal customers as well as making the customers understand the importance of using a Verve card to transact. For now, it’s a yearly program depending on the budget we have, we can make it more than a year”

On his part, the CEO of Verve International, Vincent Ogunude said the collaboration with FirstBank has spanned over 15 years, stressing they share a common desire of giving value to customers and creating the best experiences.

He said: “We have been collaborating with FirstBank for over 15 years, so what we have decided to do is that we have come together to reward customers. I think both First Bank and Verve have a common desire to reward and appreciate customers, give value to customers and create the best experience, so having this promo is a way of manifesting our desire to do so.

“That’s why we have done this, We have done it for two years but this time around, we decide to take it up a notch and what we decided to do was to give a brand new car to the winner and this is one of so many other gifts items, ranching from television sets, gas cooker and various items. We are interested in keeping this going, so we expect that we would be doing more this year and beyond and who knows we would have bigger brand prizes going forward.”

The winner of the star prize Olakunle Animashun expressed excitement over the car gift and thanked FirstBank and Verve for such an opportunity.

He said: “This car is still a surprise to me, I did not expect it. Initially, when someone called me from FirstBank, that I won a car, I thought it was a scam, the person said it was a FirstBank verve promo, my wife urged me to go there and when I went there they congratulated me saying I have won a car.”

“I didn’t believe it until when I got here today until I saw the car and the key was handed over to me. I thank Firstbank and verve for this opportunity given to me, may God be with them.”
