FA fine and suspend Leeds manager Jesse Marsch

The Football Association has fined and suspended Leeds manager Jesse Marsch for his behaviour in his side’s 5-2 defeat at Brentford earlier this month.

Marsch was sent off during the loss for showing his frustration and anger after United were denied a second-half penalty when they were 3-1 behind. Aaron Hickey tangled with Crysencio Summerville and the American coach urged referee Robert Jones to use the pitchside monitor.

The 48-year-old will serve his suspension after the international break in Leeds’ home fixture with Aston Villa on 2 October.

The FA’s statement reads: “Leeds United FC’s Jesse Marsch has been fined £10,000 and suspended from the touchline for their next fixture following a breach of FA Rule E3 that happened at their match against Brentford FC in the Premier League on Saturday 3 September 2022.

“The manager admitted that his language and behaviour during the 64th minute of that game was improper.

“An independent Regulatory Commission subsequently imposed his sanctions.”
