FA Cup: Ian Wright reveals mistake Ten Hag made in defeat to Man City

Arsenal legend, Ian Wright has claimed that Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag made a selection mistake in their FA Cup final defeat to Manchester City.

According to Wright, Ten Hag “definitely” should have started Alejandro Garnacho.

The United boss opted for a front three of Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho at Wembley.

Ilkay Gundogan gave City the lead inside 13 seconds, before Bruno Fernandes levelled from the penalty spot.

Gundogan scored again in the second, and the Red Devils were unable to find another equaliser, despite an impressive cameo from Garnacho, who replaced Christian Eriksen on the hour mark.

“I thought Manchester City were just very efficient.

“I thought we would see more from Manchester United. They improved after Garnacho came on, and he definitely should have started the game for me. He proved he had a little bit more thrust about him.

“Other than that, Manchester City were in total control really. It was quite tepid from United in the end,” Wright told ITV Football.
