Everton vs Leicester – WSL preview: TV channel, live stream, team news & prediction

Fresh from their Merseyside derby victory at Anfield, Everton are back in WSL action on Thursday evening against winless Leicester for a rearranged fixture that was originally scheduled to take place earlier this month.

The Toffees earned their first win under new boss Brian Sorensen with a memorable 3-0 victory over rivals Liverpool, and face the Foxes in their first home match of the 2022/23 campaign.

Leicester can count themselves unlucky to have come away with nothing from their opening two WSL outings, having turned in decent performances but suffered narrow defeats to Tottenham and Aston Villa. They will be vying to stop the rot at Walton Hall Park on Thursday.

When is kick off? Thursday 29 September, 18:00 (BST)
Where is the match being played? Walton Hall Park
TV channel/live stream? FA Player (UK & international)
Referee? Cheryl Foster

Everton will be without Toni Duggan, after the forward announced on Tuesday that she was expecting a baby. Clare Wheeler is also expected to be absent through illness.

Aggie Beever-Jones returned to training on Wednesday, having sat out the Merseyside derby, and will be assessed on Thursday. Karen Holmgaard should be in the squad, after returning to training last week following a shoulder injury.

Lydia Bedford confirmed she has a fully fit squad to pick from for Thursday’s encounter, with only long-term absentees missing. Jess Sigsworth remains sidelined, having ruptured her ACL in February.

Everton (3-4-3): Brosnan; Finnigan, Sevecke, Veje; Graham, Bjorn, Galli, George; Park, Snoeijs, Christiansen

Leicester (3-5-2): Levell; Howard, Tierney, Plumptree; Simon, Whelan, Green, Pike, Purfield; O’Brien, Flint

Leicester have been unfortunate to leave empty handed from their opening two WSL matches. The Foxes have turned in positive performances and created plenty of chances – but putting the ball in the back of the net is where they have come unstuck.

The pieces all seemed to click for Sorensen’s new Everton side on Sunday with a stunning display against Liverpool. Jess Park was electric up front, and has subsequently received an England call up. Should the Toffees recapture their form from the weekend, they should secure a narrow victory on Thursday.

Prediction: Leicester 0-2 Everton
