Everton Legend Fears for Alex Iwobi

Alan Stubb expressed concern over Alex Iwobi’s health, after the midfielder was substituted against Manchester United in the FA Cup match, due to injury.

Iwobi is understood to have suffered an ankle ligament damage during Everton’s FA Cup loss at Old Trafford on Friday night.

He was tackled by Tyrell Malacia, before leaving the Stadium on crutches and will undergo scans in the coming days.

Speaking to BBC Radio Merseyside, Stubb who captained the Toffees in the past, fears the 26-year-old could sidelined for several weeks.

“Alex Iwobi has just gone over on his ankle and the ankle has gone inside,” Alan Stubb said on BBC Radio Merseyside.

“I’m hoping he hasn’t done his ankle ligaments because it looks like that. “The momentum of the challenge from Malacia has rocked his ankle.

“It’ll either be one where he has jarred it and is fine to carry on or he won’t be able to continue and could be out for a few weeks,” He said.

Iwobi, who was replaced by Abdoulaye Doucoure, has been one of Everton’s best players this season, along with Jordan Pickford.

However, boss Frank Lampard will be hoping the injury isn’t very serious.
