Arsene Wenger has said that Arsenal were used when they tried to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Sporting Lisbon.
According to Wenger, the North London side had scouted the Portuguese and were impressed with his performance.
He said they had even had dinner as the transfer was nearing conclusions before Manchester United hijacked the deal.
The iconic manager spoke at an event alongside his friend and former colleague David Dein.
He said, “On Ronaldo, we scouted him and were impressed. WE had dinner, we discussed money.
“The next day Manchester United blew us out of the water. We were used.”(Dailypost)
