EPL: He didn’t tell us – Tottenham midfielder responds to Conte’s comments

Denmark international, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has responded to his Tottenham manager, Antonio Conte’s attack on the players after their frustrating draw with Southamton at the weekend.

Conte had after the game expressed his frustration publicly and called his players selfish, slamming them for not playing as a team and even went further to berate the club’s owners for not giving him the needed support.

The club are considering sacking the former Juventus, Italy, Inter Milan and Chelsea boss this week after the explosive post-match interview on Saturday.

And Danish midfielder, Hojbjerg said the Italian should be willing to ‘elaborate’ on his outburst after he called players ‘selfish’ and also dug out chairman Daniel Levy.

Asked about Conte’s comments, Hojbjerg told journalists during the international break, “We’ve all seen it.

“It is because he is not satisfied. Unfortunately, we did not get the results we as a team and club wanted.

“But I think he has to elaborate on how he feels before you as a player can start measuring and weighing.

“He didn’t tell us what he wanted to say at the press conference.’ the midfielder added, saying the manager’s comment came to them as a surprise.”
