EPL: Emmanuel Petit names Chelsea’s most disappointing player this season

Former Arsenal midfielder, Emmanuel Petit has named Raheem Sterling as Chelsea’s ‘most disappointing signing’ of the season.

Petit, however, still believes in the ability of the England international, adding that his lack of form may have been caused by the toxicity that owner Todd Boehly has brought to Stamford Bridge.

Sterling joined Chelsea in the summer of 2022 for around £50million and was heralded as a great, experienced signing.

Sterling scored 131 goals and made 95 assists for City and won four Premier League titles and six domestic cups with them.

However, he has been unable to replicate this form at Chelsea, with nine goals and four assists in 37 games so far this season.

“Raheem Sterling is the Chelsea signing that has disappointed me the most. I don’t want to be too harsh on him and it’s hard to point fingers too much at players because it’s been a mess for at least a year,” Petit told Genting Casino.

Petit said that there has been no serenity on and off the pitch at Stamford Bridge since former Roman Abramovich left the Blues.

“So I can’t imagine how difficult it must be for the players,” he added.
