Former Premier League star, Darren Bent has given his verdict on a potential red card situation in Manchester United Premier League clash with Leicester City.
Marcel Sabitzer stamped on the kneecap of Wout Faes late into the first half but the referee did not see anything wrong with the challenge. Even after a brief check by the video assistant referee, not even a yellow card was shown to the Dutch international.
But Bent believes the World Cup star should not have been allowed to remain on the pitch.
“I thought that was a red card. It could have been worse. It was very high and nowhere near the ball,” he said on Premier League Productions.
He added: “Seeing that, that was on the kneecap and the ball was nowhere near there. I’m surprised he is still on the pitch.”
