Liverpool defender, Virgil van Dijk has named two Chelsea stars, Antonio Rudiger and Thiago Silva among the best defenders in the world.
Van Dijk, who returned to Liverpool’s starting line up this season after spending a major part last season on the sideline due to injury has swiftly rediscovered the form.
He has been recently recognised as the best defender in the English Premier League.
But discussing the best defenders in the game, the Netherlands International singled out Rudiger and Silva among PSG’s Sergio Ramos, and Barcelona’s Gérard Pique.
“There’s so many good defenders out there,” van Dijk told Sky Sports.
“The old guys Sergio Ramos, Thiago Silva, Gerard Pique.
“The game has evolved and defending is different.
“If you look at Laporte and Rudiger. I think he had a fantastic season last year and the way he came back from a knee injury, I have even more respect for him now.”
