Rangers head coach Mbwas Mangut is pleased to see the team come back from behind to beat Bayelsa United in NPFL, Group B match at the weekend.
The Flying Antelopes defeated the visitors, Bayelsa United 2-1, to start the second round of NPFL campaign with an important win.
On Thirty-four minutes, Alex Jerry stabbed home the opening goal for the Yenagoa based team following a quick interchange of passes between Robert Mizo, and Oyowah Alex exposed Rangers defence.
Rangers responded in the second half and equalized through Godwin Obaje on 48 minutes.
Rangers won it late after substitute, Kingsley Maduforo, was fouled in the box with three minutes left on the clock and the referee wasted no time in pointing to the spot for the second time.
Chidera Ezeh then then converted the penalty.
Chief Coach, Mbwas Mangut, in a post-match chat, said :
“It was a difficult match with due respect to the opponents after the first encounter in Yenagoa ended in a draw.
“We created a lot of scoring chances but failed to convert until they got the lead, but we came back stronger in the second half and got our deserved result with the penalty calls from the referee as our opponent continued committing fouls in and around the box.
“We shall keep the momentum going into our next match and hope that we get our target as we chase a top-three finish.”
Rangers will next take on Abia Warriors FC in an ‘Oriental Derby’, mid-week on March 29, in Umuahia on matchday 11 fixture.
