Ekong happy to make winning start to his Salernitana career

Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong is delighted to make a winning start to life at Salernitana.

Ekong joined Salernitana from Watford early this week and was handed his debut against Lecce on Friday night after two training session with the team.

The former Tottenham Hotspur academy graduate put in a good shift as Salernitana secured a 2-1 win.

The victory helped Salernitana ended their disastrous run of form that saw them lose to 8-2 to Atalanta and 2-0 to neighbors Napoli.

Senegal forward Boualaye Dia opened scoring inside opening five minutes, before Tonny Vilhena scored the second from 12 yards in the 20th minute.

Lecce later pulled one back through Gabriel Strefezza.

Reacting to the game, Ekong said:

“It was a good win and three important for the team. Let’s go boys”, He posted on his verified Twitter page.

The Nigerian international will be aiming for his first start for the club, when they host Juventus next.
