Don recalls late Peller’s magic acts at remembrance

Prof Peller

A former  Head of Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies, University of Ibadan, Prof. Kamil Oloso, who was very close to Prof. Moshood Abiola Peller popularly known as Professor Peller has described the late magician as a prophet of God.

The don stated this on Saturday at the 25th anniversary of the death of the renowned magician at Iseyin.

The professor said Peller never joked with Islamic prayers and he always observed each session when he was alive. He said Peller was killed while praying saying with that he would not stand in judgment before making it to Aljana (paradise).

He said, “Indian is the headquarters of magic. Prof. Peller went round the world performing magic and he was a very great man. He was known everywhere.

“I am an Islamic cleric and he was a magician but he took Islamic prayers very seriously. Anytime, it was prayer time, he was always in a hurry and eager to observe prayers.

“When he was about to exit the world, it was during prayer time. Anyone who dies while praying would not be judged no matter what the person did on earth.”

The former HoD recalled some stunning things which Peller performed while both of them were together and said the late magician was respected even in Saudi Arabia.

Oloso said, “He gave me a piece of cloth I used it to blindfold myself but I couldn’t see anything. I blindfolded him and he drove from Ibadan to Asejire. Two of us were in the car, only God knew how many prayers I offered that day.

“Also, Professor Peller and I went to Umrah in Saudi Arabia and I took him to the chief imam there and I  wanted them to help scare him to leave magic but they told me to leave him and continue with his magic.

“Peller said he wanted them to open the backdoor of where Prophet Mohammed was buried to us but they said it was not possible. They said the side that was opened to the public was where everybody queued to look at the tomb. He later left me and went his way.

“After, a solider came to call me. They allowed us to see the place as Peller had requested. We went in there.

“We were on the plane going back to Jedah when he told me that he forgot his walking stick there at the place in Medina. I told him that the only thing we could do was to go back immediately after we landed in Jedah.

“But he said we would meet the walking stick in Jedah. As we entered the house where lodged, we met the walking stick in the sitting room. I was surprised but  he asked whether that was too big for God”
