The General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries, Chibuzor Chinyere, has finally fulfilled his promises to the family of slain Sokoto student, Deborah Samuel.

Deborah was the 200-level student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, who was killed two weeks ago for allegedly insulting Islam’s Prophet Muhammad.

The young lady was beaten and burnt to death by some Muslim fanatics in her school, Naija News recalls.

Her death received a barrage of reactions from concerned Nigerians at home and abroad.

Joining a host of others in mourning the student’s death and sympathizing with her parent, Apostle Chinyere last week, offered scholarships to the siblings of Deborah Samuel and her parent.

While the memory is yet to die down, the renowned Port Harcourt clergyman has deemed it fit to immediately fulfil his promises to Deborah Samuel’s parents.

Naija News understands that Apostle Chinyere donated the buildings and a corolla car for uber business to the family of the slain lady.

It was revealed that the donations were fully sponsored through OPM Church tithes and offerings.

Deborah’s parents could be seen in viral photos penning their signature on some documents suspected to be for ownership of the vehicle and houses.

Meanwhile, Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka, has called for the immediate sack of the Chief Imam of the National Mosque in Abuja, Ibrahim Maqari.

Naija News recalls that a female student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto State, Deborah Samuel, was lynched to death and burnt over alleged blasphemy.

Following the sad incident, the Islamic cleric insinuated that Deborah was responsible for her death by crossing one of the red lines of Islam.

In a tweet via his Twitter handle, Maqari said if Muslim grievances are not properly addressed, then Nigerians should not be criticized for addressing them themselves.

Reacting, Soyinka described Maqari’s statements as unfortunate and sad, adding that the cleric has backed the killing of the female student with his words.

The playwright also stated that the Islamic cleric has directed his followers to take laws into their own hands through his comments

Soyinka stated these on Saturday during the launch of the biography of the late Chief of Army Staff, Ibrahim Attahiru, in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

He, therefore called for the removal of the cleric from office, saying that he does not deserve to hold any position following his unfortunate comments.
