De Bruyne, Foden scoop Premier League awards

Two Manchester City midfielders Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden beat other nominees from both categories to be crowned winners of the award.

Both players have been instrumental as Manchester City sit one point ahead of Liverpool ahead of the final weekend of the season.

Speaking to the Manchester City website about the accomplishment, De Bruyne said, “To win the Player of the Season for a second time is an achievement that I am really proud of.

“There is so much quality in the Premier League and it is a pleasure to be nominated with so many other great players who have had incredible seasons for their clubs

“I think my performances have been good and I am happy I have been able to contribute with goals and assists throughout the season.

“Thank you to all of the staff, coaches and especially my teammates because without them this wouldn’t be possible.”

Just like De Bruyne, this is the second season Foden has won the Young Player of the Season award.

He also gave his thoughts on the victory to the Manchester City website. He said, “I’m very proud to have won the Young Player of the Season for a second season in a row.

“There are so many talented young players in the Premier League this season and it is a real honour to win it again. I have been really happy with my performances this season.

“It has been great to contribute in what will hopefully be another successful year. To be nominated alongside so many great players is an honour, they have all had great seasons. I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to my development.”
