Commotion As PDP Delegates Stone Ishaku, Deputy’s Convoys At Taraba Primaries

Taraba Bandit Attack On Military: Gov. Ishaku Mourns Slain Soldiers

The Taraba State Primaries experienced chaos on Wednesday as delegates of the People’s Democratic Party PDP in Taraba State stoned the convoy of the state Governor, Darius Ishaku and his Deputy Haruna Manu at the Catholic Pastoral Centre Jalingo.

A report monitored on Daily Post has it that the Deputy Governor drove to the voting arena where the election was scheduled to take place but the delegates attacked his convoy with stones in defiance.

The state governor’s convoy arrived shortly after but was not permitted to halt because the delegates began stoning the convoy, claiming that they did not want to speak with the governor or the party’s leadership.

Some delegates who spoke to newsmen expressed dissatisfaction with the imposition of the state PDP party chairman, Kefas Agbu as an aspirant despite the fact that he was never a part of the process until just 48 hours before the primaries.

The action has sparked widespread condemnation and agitation from stakeholders who insist that the elder statesman should not impose a candidate on the party again, especially since the candidate is the party’s seating Chairman and comes from the same zone as the current governor, who is about to finish his second term in office.

The development has delayed the commencement of the primary election, Naija News reports.
