Borno govt won’t pay compensation for demolishing 15 worship centres – White paper

The Borno State Authorities says it is not going to compensate 11 mosques and 4 church buildings demolished for violating the State’s Land Use Act.

Adam Bukar Bababe, Govt Secretary of Borno Geographic Data Service (BOGIS), instructed newsmen in Maiduguri on Saturday that the choice was a part of the decision made by the Borno State Implementation Committee on Authorities White Paper on the Boko Haram insurgency within the State.

In line with him, “No residential lodging needs to be transformed into a spot of worship for the general public by adherents of whichever religion with out due compliance with the supply of any extant legislation.”

He additional defined that the locations of worship demolished violated the land and use act, including that there isn’t any compensation for such demolition.

The Govt Secretary said that each one the worship centres didn’t observe regular process.

He added that it doesn’t make sense for any authorities to demolish and later pay compensation.
