Benue first lady’s 50th birthday
Eunice, the wife of the Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, marked her 50th birthday on August 27, 2022. The birthday celebration was held at a church in Benue State and had a host of dignitaries in attendance, including the Governor of Delta State and the Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ifeanyi Okowa; and the National Chairman of the PDP, Iyorchia Ayu. The event included a praise and worship session, after which the dignitaries joined the birthday girl in cutting her cake.
When Daisy Danjuma turned 70
A socialite and businesswoman, Senator Daisy Danjuma, elegantly stepped into the septuagenarian club on August 6, 2022.
The events started in grand style with a thanksgiving service at The Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Lagos Island, before moving to Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Daisy looked elegant in a brown dress, even as her billionaire husband, Theophilus Danjuma, was practically glued to her side, as they played host to several top personalities from across different walks of life, including politics and business.
Some notable personalities that graced the birthday celebration included a former Vice President and the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar; Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; the Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso; Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku; Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal; Esther Ajayi, popularly known as Iya Adura; Chief Olu Okeowo, and Atedo Peterside.
Taraba gov’s daughter got hitched
Ifeanyi Okowa and Duoye Diri, the governors of Delta and Bayelsa states respectively, were among the dignitaries who graced the wedding of Idi-shirin, a daughter of the Governor of Taraba State, Darius Ishaku, on Saturday, October 8, 2022, in Abuja.
Idi-shirin got married to Efosa Igbinosun, at the Rainbow Event Marquee, Abuja, and prominent guests present were the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; a former governor of Cross River State, Liyel Imoke; a former governor of Imo State and a former Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha; and a former Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, Uche Secondus.
Mama Craig’s burial
A top educationist and proprietress of Labo Memorial Primary School, and Somerset Secondary School, both in Surulere, Lagos, Olubunmi Craig was given a befitting burial on August 4, 2022.
A son of the late educationist, Segun Senbanjo, who is the Country Director of Nord Oil, hosted some top personalities during the burial, including the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun; Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote; Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi; Minister of Trade and Industry, Niyi Adebayo; CEO of Oando, Wale Tinubu; Segun Awolowo, First Lady of Kwara State, Folake Abdulrazaq; Segun Fagboyegun, Toyin Saraki, and Senator Tokunbo Ogunbanjo.
Ooni of Ife’s many weddings
The Ooni of Ife’s palace definitely witnessed a spate of celebrations this year as the monarch, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, got married to six new wives in the course of the year.
The first wedding was between him and Mariam Anako, and it was solemnised on September 6, 2022. The second marriage was to Elizabeth Akinmudai in Magodo, Lagos State.
On October 9, 2022, the king officially married his third wife for the year, Tobiloba Philips, who is an ex-beauty queen.
The Ooni married his fourth wife, Ashley Adegoke, on October 14, 2022. His fifth wife, Ashley Adegoke, was married on October, 20, 2022. He married his sixth wife, Temitope Adesegun, on October 24, 2022. The king also marked his seven year-coronation anniversary on December 7, 2022.
Deborah Enenche’s wedding
Deborah, the first daughter of the Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Paul Enenche, had her wedding on December 17, 2022. The ceremony took place at the Glory Dome auditorium of Dunamis Church, in Abuja, and had many notable guests in attendance. They included a former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan; the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi; governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom; and Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom State.
The couple had held their traditional marriage on December 15, 2022.
Ajayi’s church thanksgiving
The founder of the Love of Christ Generation Church (Cherubim and Seraphim), Reverend Esther Ajayi, held a thanksgiving to commemorate the first anniversary of the church, and her 15 years in ministry.
At the thanksgiving, a former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, delivered a sermon. The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; and the Chairman of the Parks Management Committee of Lagos State, Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo also graced the event.
Boss Mustapha daughter’s wedding
Anna, a daughter of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, tied the knot with her husband, Robintom Yakubu-Nuhu, on Saturday, December 17, 2022.
The wedding was held at the National Christian Centre, Abuja. Some of the dignitaries in attendance included Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and his wife, Dolapo; as well as a former President, Goodluck Jonathan.
The couple had earlier had a pre-wedding that was held at the American University of Nigeria, Yola, the Adamawa State capital. This part of the event was attended by Governors Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa and Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe.
