Security Operatives Kill Over 200 Bandits In Niger State

Bandits have killed a 23-year-old worshipper, amongst 44 others abducted inside Jumu’at mosque in the Zugu area of Zamfara State, releasing the rest.

Naija News reports that the families of the abducted victims rallied together to gather funds to the tune of N5m, demanded by the captors to initiate the release of the victims.

Unfortunately, Babangida Muhammadu was killed while the children of a political party chieftain, Alhaji Junaidu, whose sons were among those abducted was released.

The state police command Spokesperson, SP Muhammed Shehu confirmed the release of the victims but did not acknowledge the killing of the said victim.

He said, “The command is aware that all the victims have been released, but I am not aware that anyone was killed or that any ransom was paid”.

Shehu, according to The Whistler, noted that the command assures that it was working assiduously around the clock to secure the state including worship centres and public spaces.

He further said  Zugu, which is the place of the incident, is an outskirt area of the state with fewer inhabitants.

The Police lament a major issue the command is facing in the state is that of Informants revealing relevant security information to the assailants.
