Popular comedian, Ay Makun has explained why he can’t reject the national honor conferred on him by ex-president Buhari after being bashed by trolls.
The father of two had gone online to express excitement over the national award he was to be conferred by the Buhari administration.
This had sparked mixed reactions from netizens some of whom had gone to the comment section to denigrate him for taking award from an administration they had critiqued.
Reacting to this, AY noted that receiving an award is the highest honor a person can get, and this has nothing to do with the person who confers it as the vital point is that he has contributed his own quota to nation building.
He maintained that his allegiance is first and foremost to Nigeria and not to a president or any political party.
AY wrote:
“Those of you shaming or asking me to reject ‘A National Honour’ are clearly missing a vital point. Our country is bigger and more important than any president or political party awarding it. A national honour is the highest recognition anyone can get for his or her contributions to nation building. So my allegiance is to a country where i have contributed my own quota, and i am more than happy to be rewarded by the same nation”
