Atiku, Okowa Storm Osun For PDP Presidential Rally

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, have arrived in Osun State for the party’s presidential campaign rally.

Naija News understands that the party chieftains were received by the State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on Wednesday and proceeded to the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo, shortly after the reception.

Giving an update on his Twitter handle, Okowa wrote: “As we prepare to join the good people of Osun at the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park in Osogbo, this morning alongside our Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, we paid a courtesy visit to the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal (Laminisa 1).”

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom predicted that PDP will win all positions in the state during the 2023 elections.

He urged the citizens to go all out and work for the PDP in the forthcoming polls, adding that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has failed Nigerians.

Naija News reports the Governor said this at the flag-off of the PDP senatorial campaigns in Benue South held at Pavilion Square in Oju Local Government Area of the state.

The rally had supporters from the nine local government areas that make up the zone.

Addressing the party supporters and loyalists, Ortom said: “Let me tell you that PDP is a serious business in Benue State. By God’s grace, we will win all our elections. We are one indivisible body committed to winning our party, the PDP because APC has failed this nation.”

Naija News reports that the declaration is coming at a time the Benue Governor and other aggrieved Governors in the party, popularly known as the G5, remain at loggerheads with the PDP national leadership.

The G5 Governors have resolved not to support the ambition of the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, except Iyorchia Ayu resigns as the party’s national chairman and is replaced with a southerner.

They argued that in the interest of justice, fairness, and equity, all major leadership positions in the party should not be concentrated in the north.
