The Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday dined with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State in London.
This was part of efforts to reconcile with Governor Wike, who has been aggrieved over the presidential primaries of the opposition party and the choice of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as running mate.
Wike, who had earlier met with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), received Atiku alongside Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State.
Governors Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), and Samuel Ortom (Benue) were also present at the meeting.
Recall that former President Olusegun Obasanjo, alongside the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, had met with the Rivers governor and his allies earlier in the day.
Sources had reportedly claimed that Obasanjo met Wike and other governors to canvass support for Peter Obi ahead of the 2023 general elections.
